It’s August, and since lovely Lakeside, California, is in the southern part of the state, it’s hot outside. Your air conditioning unit is probably going at full blast right now. You had your HVAC system inspected just before the cooling season, but given the workload, your system is bearing, it’s a good idea to check your HVAC now and then throughout the summer. Our technicians at Hi-Tech Air Heating & Cooling take pride in keeping our customers’ systems in tip-top shape even during the worst of the heat. However, there are some things you can do yourself. Here are some HVAC maintenance tips to help your house stay cool for the rest of the summer.

Change the Filter

One thing that makes an air conditioning system work harder than it should or even shut down is a clogged air filter. Changing the filter is as simple and easy as can be. Either replace it with a new filter or wash the old filter, let it dry and then put it back. Rather than waiting until the end of the cooling season, replace the filter every one to three months.

Upgrade Your Thermostat

Thermostats are constantly being modernized. Now, you can buy a thermostat that can communicate with your cell phone. You can even program it to turn off and on when you’re at work, so you’ll never have to come home to a hothouse that takes a while to cool down or waste money keeping the AC on all day while you’re gone. Let one of our HVAC experts install a new thermostat for you.

Check the Electrical Wiring

To do this, shut the system down at the circuit box, then open up the access panel. If any wires look worn-out or burnt, reach out to us for services.
